At lunch time we have a reward system called Top Table for wise behaviour in our dining room. Children on the Top Table have special cutlery etc and are served as if they were in a restaurant.

The Christmas Party

We held our whole school Christmas Party on Tuesday 15th December. The children were invited to see the panto at Seahouses Middle School in the morning. When they got back to school they all enjoyed their Christmas Dinner. Afterwards they danced and played party games. They also had a big surprise when Santa came to deliver presents for them all!

Green woodwork at Embleton School

On a bright autumn day in November the pupils of Vincent Edwards First School had a very special experience.  Simon Rippon, a freelance green woodwork tutor led an afternoon workshop on green woodwork and rustic furniture making.  All the children acquired the basic skills of using mallets and screwdrivers and tried their hands at weaving willow screens.  The height of the afternoon was an introduction to the ancient art of turning wood on a pole-lathe.  Simon who teaches green woodwork across the region commented “The children really love the hand-on experience of working with wood.  On a personal level it builds their confidence, raises their fitness and improves their hand-eye co-ordination.  It also demonstrates that functional and beautiful objects can be made from wood without spending a fortune on power tools and timber”.
